  8. Laura Says:

iRReaL, be patient ;) Bear in mind, there was a time when news of Rachel were extremely rare. I even thought she won’t continue acting!
But look what happened in the last months. Loads of new pictures, some interviews and of course the announcing of a new movie, in which she’ll star :) I’m more than happy with that xD

Very nice photos, by the way. I especially love the last one. I’ve listened to a few tracks from the Solomon Kane soundtrack and her (Meredith’s) theme is just beautiful :)

  9. iRReaL Says:

Just something I’ve wanted to clear for long : I know pretty well the cinema industry (I work in it) and I can tell that Rachel has never honestly meant to stop acting. It’s just a common way to draw the producer’s attention. The more a young actress shows a certain detachment from the business, the more she is requested. She keeps them waiting (the same way Emma Watson has gotten her raise for the HP movies claiming she wanted to quit the role to go to college. Of course she didn’t want to quit, it was just blackmail to get more money). All of that is just a business tactics. Rachel WILL keep acting. And in my opinion, she wants to be BIG ! (Never trust what an actor says in interviews, it’s all bluff. Their manager asks them to say so because that gives them a good image. None answer is honest. None.)

  12. Sarika Says:

I don’t know. The difference between Emma and Rachel is that Emma has had steady, high-profile work. Rachel also has an alternate career path in mind as shown by her studies (linguistics, etc.). I just don’t think the same “all celebrities lie” rule can be applied to everyone because we never realy know for sure. Natalie Portman did the same thing and she’s stayed with acting. Emma is actually in college. We’ll just never know.

  13. Olivia Says:

It’s really interesting of you to talk about that Maey! I bet you’re right about most actors doing that – it is a great way of keeping producers interested. But I’m not so sure about Rachel. I worked for a casting director who cast and auditioned Rachel many times and she (the CD) genuinely told me that Rachel’s passion lay in psychology and that she just wasn’t sure about ‘putting her all’ into acting. That’s not to say she wouldn’t stop all together because sure, she’ll do a project when a good script comes along!

  14. Maey Says:

Well, it’s a matter of success afterwards. I’m sure at 98% that Emma will not get other roles after Harry Potter for the only reason that she “is” Hermione. One of the most difficult challenge for actors, is to find a role big enough to make them famous but yet not too big or they’ll be associated to this role forever. That’s why no HP actor will find movies afterwards. Maybe small roles, but nothing big.
The other difference between Emma Watson and Nathalie Portman, is talent. I’m sorry, but Emma is more of a model than an actress. She can’t act and producers know it. Maybe they’ll get her roles because “the girl from Harry Potter” will be a lucrative business (Emma’s career will be based on Harry Potter anyway). But it will only last a while…

To come back to Rachel, of course she will tell the casting directors she meets that she’s really interested in her studies and hesitates to definitely act… The CD will take her not to let her go ! If she’s like “Oh ! I really want to act ! It’s my passion ! It’s the job I want to do” the CD will put her on the waiting list because they see this kind of girl and hear this kind of speech hundreds of times a day.
As I said before, it’s a tactics probably suggested by her manager.

  15. Olivia Says:

You may be right, but that’s not really how CDs work. That’s how a producer or director might think, not a CD. They’re not stupid! She’ll be included in the casting breakdown because she’s good on camera, not because she’s saying something other than ‘It’s my passion’.

  16. Maey Says:

Well, that’s the way it works in France.

  17. Olivia Says:

:D Haha, I’ll certainly look out for those tactics when I’m working as a CD especially if I start working in France! :D Tehehe
